“Snowman” Takes Funland By Storm

Have you ever played mini-golf during a blizzard… in the middle of June? Have you ever hit the perfect hole-in-one and then seen the sky light up with fireworks as a result? These are only a few of the things new owner Francisco “The Snowman” Guerra hopes to bring to Funland Park adjacent to McFarland Park on Coffee Rd. in Florence.

Guerra is the owner of Snowmasters, a company based in Lexington, Alabama which creates snow, clouds, rain, and other special effects for clients all over the world. With the help of park manager, Max Scott, Guerra is using his products to completely transform Funland’s mini-golf course, with new surprises lurking around every green. However, mini-golf isn’t all they have to offer.

At Funland you can cool off by plunging 378 feet down a twisting tube slide into the waters below. The park also has a 328 foot water slide, three children’s slides and a swimming pool. Want to dry off? Be the next NASCAR superstar as you fly around one of the park’s two go-cart tracks and have the water blown right off of you.

Do you have big dreams of becoming a rock star, but can’t seem to get that garage band of yours out of the garage? Join the owner’s son, Frankie Guerra, also known as D.J. Little Skittle, for Open Mic. Night coming in July, and have your musical genius finally discovered. Can’t play an actual instrument? You can still rock the faces off of the crowd at the “Battle of the Bands” Rockband™ competitions during teen night.

If all that jamming gives you a rock star appetite, head on over to the concession stand for a carnival variety of food. Funland’s tasty treats include everything from hot wings and pizza to funnel cakes and cotton candy, not to mention the new outside tiki-bar, adding a perfect touch to the park’s new Hawaiian theme.

The park will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for maintenance, but will be open on Sundays and Wednesdays from 12-6pm, Thursdays from 12-8pm, Fridays from 12-8pm, and Saturday from 11am-6pm. It will be open again occasionally from 7-11pm for Teen Night (age 14 and up.)

So get up and get going. The new and improved Funland is waiting. Why aren’t you wet yet?
