LEXINGTON – When you think of some of the biggest complaints in a small, rural town like Lexington, what comes to mind? Lack of a fast, reliable Internet connection is definitely close to the top of the list. Well, technology is literally on the rise in northwest Alabama as SnowMasters Special Effects is solving that problem. The initial Front Porch Communications tower (which provides high speed wireless Internet service through remote relay points) has been installed in Lexington with an approximate six-mile service radius.
Additional towers will soon be installed, expanding services in all directions.
This proprietary Internet service is now being tested by ten customers, and the open subscription period is set to begin in early September. Several package levels will be offered to accommodate a wide range of subscriber budgets. Founder and President, Francisco Guerra, understands the need for high-speed Internet since his business, SnowMasters Special Effects, relocated to the rural Lexington-Anderson Alabama area over eight years ago. Snowmasters has to communicate with over 20 office locations across the country and throughout the world. Mayors Richard Herston of Rogersville and Bobby McGuire of Lexington each provided accolades to Front Porch Communications for its investment in infrastructure and equipment to support the growth of the area. The company will also be working with municipalities to offer expanded emergency communications services.
