Baker Took Care of Me

Editor:

I recently drove up to what had been Wayne’s Auto Repair shop for many years and found a new sign reading, “Goins Auto Repair.” I was disappointed at first and hesitant to trust the new owner with the needed work for my car. However, when I saw Jason, I was relieved. I told him I was glad that he stayed with the new owner. He then told me that he IS the new owner. Jason worked for Wayne Baker for about eight years and I came to trust him just as I trusted Wayne. I just never knew his last name.

Wayne Baker took care of all my vehicles for more than 25 years. I found him to be a man of absolute integrity and completely competent in his work. I came to trust him to the extent that I left my car there and told him to do whatever was needed. I didn’t require that he call me to tell me what was wrong, knowing that he would never do anything except what was needed.

I will miss seeing my friend Wayne Baker, but I will continue to take my car to Goins Auto Repair. I am confident that Jason, the young man that Wayne trained, is competent and has the same integrity that I saw in Wayne.

The State Legislature plans to redraw house and senate districts in a manner many say favors the Republican party and destroys NW Alabama unity. What is your opinion of that plan?
