The Parents’ Choice
Dear Editor:
I am now in a small comfortable home. I receive all the food I need and sleep as long as I like. It shouldn’t be too long before my home is too small, and I must go to “their home”.
What will the new home be like? Will the people accept and love me? Will I hear laughter and see smiles? Will they teach me right from wrong?
Will they tell me to grow in all things so that I can make it in my “world home”? Will they teach me to be kind to others and help them?
Will they teach me to obey all laws or pay for the consequences of my actions? Will they correct my language when I use ugly words? If I say that I will do something, I must keep my word.
Later when it is time for me to enter the “world home” will I say “Thank you for all you have done for me I love you” or will I say, “I have had a terrible, young life, I hate you”?
It is the choice that parents make.
