Time. We all have the same amount. Yet some people are able to accomplish so much more than others. Why is that?
It’s what we choose to do with our time that matters.
Work, family, our career… really life in general can tug at us from every direction.
First, there are so many methods of communication from text messages, phone calls, emails, direct messages on social media, you name it. On some days, you could spend hours simply going through and responding to messages or cleaning up your email.
Did I mention social media? I’m betting the people who are really getting things done are not sitting and scrolling through social media for hours on end.
Then there’s family stuff. Maybe it’s getting the kids to and from school, soccer practice or dance. Cleaning the house, laundry, what are we doing for dinner? There’s always something to do and time to spend in this category, right?
I could go on and on. The fact is, everyone has demands on their time from one thing or another.
So here’s the question: What about your dreams? What about something that YOU want to do or accomplish?
What if you purposefully carved out a little time each day to work on something that’s going to really move the needle for you? What is something you’d like to do that might change your life and those around you? Do you have a dream or a major personal goal that you keep putting off because you don’t have time? Guess what; you DO have time! You just have to commit that time. It will never happen if YOU don’t make it happen.
This is what separates people who accomplish things and people who don’t: The people who get things done stay focused on their goal or whatever “it” is, and most importantly they make time for it and work on it on a regular basis.
What is one thing you can do today that will really move the needle and propel you toward your goal or dream? Once you know, block out a time in your calendar, and then protect that time as if your life depended on it. I know it’s easier said than done but remember this, it’s your time and if you don’t plan it, someone else will. -mr
