The coverage of the attack on Vice President Pence’s Christianity combined with the claim by South Bend, Indiana Mayor, and US Presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, who is a married homosexual, to be a Christian, illustrates the ignorance of most members of the news media of what it really means to be a Christian.

The New Testament book of Acts tells us that the apostle Paul - who wrote more of the New Testament than any other writer, was named Saul before his encounter with the Lord on the road to Damascus. Saul had stood by and approved the murder of Stephen for preaching the gospel and continued to “breathe threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord.”

Then, on the road to Damascus the Lord chose Saul for his ministry and named him Paul. Any sin from the past will be forgiven by the Lord if there is true repentance, but no sin will be forgiven without repentance. Therefore, it is impossible for someone living the life of homosexual and refusing to repent of it to be a Christian.

This same Paul tells us in First Corinthians 6:9-11, Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (NKJV).

Paul was changed from Saul to Paul - from a murderer to a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ - not by some good works that he did, but by repenting. And to repent he had to admit what he was doing was wrong. God has not changed His standards to suit modern day theology.
