Editor:

It seems as many in this Democracy, led by the mainstream media and the democratic leaders, have concluded anyone who supported President Trump, or worked for his administration, needs to be punished. Isn’t it

enough the 46th President plans to reverse or remove most of the Trump policies, domestic and foreign? Isn’t it enough after four years working for no salary to put America first, but being slandered by the press, Democrats and the ignorant?

It is true that President Trump has been brash and sometimes arrogant in his desire to improve America by making us energy independent, but is it wise to depend on the Arab states to furnish us oil? Day one of the new administration, sees the Keystone Pipeline cancelled. No more “fracking” oil permits. Trump negotiated new and better trade treaties with our neighbors, Mexico and Canada. Trump pressed China on trade, their theft of our technology, and getting companies to return jobs to America. The “new” administration as the previous one blessed the transfer of manufacturing to China. President Obama told us jobs would never return. President Trump did get some back and before the Covid pandemic, the country had record employment of all citizens.

The Rule of Law is what the Constitution is based on, not mob rule, Democracy IS ruling by the majority. If the majority would rule, California, New York, and a few other states, would control the rest of the country. That is why the president is selected by “electors” per Article II of the Constitution. Only the ignorant would wish to change that Article of the Constitution.

The First ten Amendments are known as the Bill of Rights.  Speaking of which, some of the ignorant leadership, not content just to change the Republic, have ignored our First Amendment rights! How many more of the Rights bestowed upon us in 1791 will be sacrificed? Legally it will be difficult as these changes require a two thirds majority of Congress to propose and three fourths of the states to ratify said changes to our Constitution.

In the meantime, it would be nice to stop the name calling and thoughts of punishment. Punishing someone who has a different opinion than you is not the way to unify the USA.
