Credit Union Day is Celebrated in the Shoals

FLORENCE – October 21 was International Credit Union Day, and Florence Mayor Andy Betterton took the occasion to recognize Florence’s seven credit unions with a city-wide proclamation recognizing the work each of these institutions has done for our community. Credit Unions have served the area for over 60 years.

Credit Unions have 291 million members in 118 countries, encompassing 86,000 credit union branches worldwide.

Credit unions uphold a common goal of offering access to affordable financial services for their members and share a collective, cooperative spirit, characterized by the credit union movement’s theme of People Helping People.
