FLORENCE – Earlier this spring there was a ribbon-cutting and Grand Opening of the Operation Kidsafe Child Safety Center at the Bobby Champagne Insurance Agency.

Champagne’s Allstate office at 851 Cox Creek Pkwy in Florence is the year-round Shoals location and is the sole provider of the FREE Operation Kidsafe community service.

The Operation Kidsafe system uses the latest all-digital systems to capture the fingerprints of each hand and a full digital head and shoulder photograph. The information is then printed on hard copy and given to a parent for safe keeping. There is an area on the document for parents to update with a current photo. The procedure and layout were developed in consultation with the FBI, police officials, and fingerprinting experts.

Operation Kidsafe founder Mark J. Bott worked with John Walsh in the 1990’s to start the Amber Alert program. Operation Kidsafe has safeguarded one million children in the last 18 years.

“Our office will offer free and private Amber Alert ready safety forms and safety tips year-round,” Champagne said. “As a community service we will also take the Operation Kidsafe system to local events.”

So if you haven’t made it to Champagne’s office and you hear about a Operation KidSafe event, bring the kids, grandchildren, team members, church groups, etc.

With the Operation Kidsafe tips, children can avoid many compromising situations. Parents may cover these tips with their children and start a family safety action plan. If a child were to become lost or kidnapped, the parent would call 911 and let law enforcement know they have an Operation Kidsafe document. The police department will handle it from there.

As long as the child is with a trusted adult, Operation Kidsafe will provide the service FREE to every family. This service can only be done onsite or at a planned KidSafe event.
