FLORENCE — Sports legend Bo Jackson will be taking the stage live at the Marriott Shoals Hotel and Conference Center on Saturday, August 7 for the 49th Annual Heritage Event. Ballroom doors open at 7pm and the show will begin at approximately 7:15pm. Musical guest Home Free will be performing after Jackson as part of the show.
Heritage Christian University President Kirk Brothers believes Shoals residents of all ages will enjoy this family-friendly lineup. “There’s something for everyone at this year’s show, “ said Brothers. “Sports fans and music enthusiasts alike will be delighted.”
As the first athlete to be named an All-Star in two major American sports, Bo Jackson won the 1985 Heisman Trophy, while at Auburn University. He also ran a 40-yard dash in a blistering 4.12 seconds (hand-timed), which is still the fastest verifiable 40-yard dash time ever recorded at any NFL Combine. He played running back for the Los Angeles Raiders of the National Football League. In baseball, Jackson played left field and designated hitter for the Kansas City Royals, the Chicago White Sox, and the California Angels of the American League in Major League Baseball.
Home Free is an acapella country group, consisting of five vocalists. The band first gained notoriety in 2013 on NBC’s The Sing Off. The group has released twelve albums since their first album in 2007.
