Creekside Academy Excels at BEST Robotics Event

MUSCLE SHOALS - Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) hosted students from 15 area schools for the 2019 Northwest Alabama BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) Robotics Game Day Saturday (October 5) in the Patriot Center gym on the Shoals Campus. Creekside Academy led the group of winners.

Placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively, Creekside Academy, Brooks High School, and Phillips High School advanced to the South’s BEST Regional Championship at Auburn University on December 7-8. In addition, Moulton Middle/Lawrence Co. High School will be invited to participate in the South’s BEST Invitational with the chance of advancing South’s BEST Regional Championship.

The BEST Robotics season kicked-off Saturday, August 24 on the NW-SCC Shoals campus for all area teams. The theme for this year’s competition is OFF THE GRID, which is all about electricity. Middle and high school student teams worked on their robot design and engineering process for six weeks.

Northwest Alabama BEST Robotics is a workforce development partnership between the Shoals Chamber of Commerce and Northwest-Shoals Community College. Each fall over 850 middle and high schools and over 18,000 students participate in the competition nationwide. For more information, visit
