FLORENCE – WFIX 91.3 FM and four stations associated with Singing River Media group will host a “Park and Pray” at 6pm on Thursday, September 23 at North Alabama Medical Center.
The public is invited to attend the live broadcast which will be a time of worship and prayer on behalf of medical personnel and patients battling COVID. The public is asked to park in the front parking lot of NAMC.
A similar event took place at Helen Keller Hospital on short notice last week.
WFIX radio station owner, Mark Allen Pyle, hosted three similar events last year. He calls the event an appeal to the community, on behalf of the community.
“Our medical personnel and those battling COVID need our prayers and encouragement now as much as ever. It’s a good time for us as a community to come together, in one voice, and let them know they’re not alone and they’ve not been forgotten,” Pyle said.
Various local ministers, hospital personnel, and community leaders will speak and lead prayer during the 40-minute broadcast.
The public is encouraged to stay in their cars and to turn hazard lights on in a show of support. The broadcast may be heard on WFIX, or Singing River Media Group stations WLAY 100.1, 94.9 The Bull, 105.5 The Big Dog, or 101.5.
Those in attendance may also bring signs with encouraging messages to honor the workers and patients.
