SHOALS – The Shoals Chamber of Commerce hosted the Spirit of the Shoals Awards at Cypress Lakes Golf Course Clubhouse in mid-October. The bi-annual gathering of Shoals businesses and community celebrated Shoals area successes over the past two years and honored individuals working toward the betterment of the community.
Eight different categories of awards were presented during the ceremony; those recipients are:
Spotlight Awards: Presented to businesses or individuals who have made broad contributions to the Shoals community. The recipients must be members of The Shoals Chamber and in business in either Lauderdale or Colbert County.
High Cotton Homes, LLC
Bank Independent Businessperson(s) of the Year Award recognizes achievement in business in the Shoals by an individual or business, and seeks to elevate the standard for excellence.
Kimberly and Larry Lewis
The University of North Alabama Excellence in Industry Award recognizes and honors an invaluable, innovative, or emerging leader in industry in The Shoals.
North American Lighting
Helen Keller Hospital Humanitarian Award is presented to an outstanding volunteer or employee who has selflessly served the Shoals community
Dr. Karen Landers
Rockin’ Representative Award Ambassador of the Year: The Ambassadors serve as the Shoals Chamber’s core group of volunteers and make everything possible.
Shoals Superstar Award: recognizes a young professional based on their leadership, commitment, mentorship, and/or achievement as a young professional in The Shoals.
Sarah Ann Evans
Best of Small Business Awards are selected based on a community wide vote during the summer months of 2021. More than 700 were nominated, and more than 6000 votes were cast by the residents of The Shoals.

The Spirit of the Shoals Awards honor individuals or groups for his or her special contribution to the community. It is nominated by the Shoals Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is the highest honor presented to an individual for leadership, achievement, and dedication to the Shoals community.
