FLORENCE - The University of North Alabama’s 2020 football schedule just tougher with the addition of FBS power Virginia Tech.
The Hokies announced that they will host the Lions in Blacksburg, VA, on Sept. 26, becoming the second FBS opponent on UNA’s 2020 slate.
UNA is already has a trip schedule to Provo, Utah in November to face BYU.
North Alabama is in its second season of transition to Division I FCS football. The Lions have faced three nationally ranked opponents already this season, all on the road, and have games against traditional FCS powers Jacksonville State and Kennesaw State on the 2020 schedule as well.
The game against Virginia Tech will be UNA’s first against an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent.
The Lions won their last game against an FBS opponent against Louisiana Lafayette in 2007 in four overtimes.
