SHEFFIELD – Time Out for Theatre, the children’s theatre program at The Ritz, returns for 2022 with a production of Charlotte’s Web! Auditions will be on Sunday, January 16 at 2 pm at the Ritz Theatre. We have roles for adults and children over 8 years of age. Auditions will be a cold reading from the script. For safety, we will have masks and distancing for participants while waiting for their turn to audition.

Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays starting January 22. Performances will be March 2-5.

The Children’s Literature Association named Charlotte’s Web the best American children’s book of the past 200 years.

Joseph Robinette, working with the advice of E.B. White, has created a play that captures this work in a thrilling and utterly practical theatrical presentation. The story and relationships make the show.

All the enchanting characters are here, including Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; and Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; and the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be a true friend and a good writer.

Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the miracle of her web in which she writes, “Some pig.” It’s the beginning of a victorious campaign which ends with the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte.
