FLORENCE – Student-athletes at the University of North Alabama have combined for a department grade point average of 3.29 for the 2020 Spring semester. This marks the highest average on record at the school.
In the midst of much adversity that included the COVID-19 outbreak, the closing of in-person classrooms and distance learning mandates, the department posted a GPA above a 3.00 for the ninth consecutive term and 10th of the previous 11 semesters.
Regardless of the adversity our students faced, they continued to take their academics seriously and performed very well,” said Sherry Kennemer, coordinator of athletics compliance and advising.
Of the 286 total student-athletes at UNA, 213 also posted at least a 3.0 GPA, while 12 of the 14 varsity sports earned a team GPA of 3.20 or higher.
