FLORENCE – The Florence Indian Mound Museum will host a film screening of the Chickasaw Nation production, Te Ata at 6pm Wednesday, November 6.
Te Ata is based on the inspiring true story of Mary Thompson Fisher, a woman who traversed cultural barriers to become one of the greatest Native American performers of all time. Te Ata was born in Indian Territory and raised on the songs and stories of her Chickasaw culture. The journey to find her true calling led her through isolation, discovery, love, and a stage career that culminated in performances for a United States president, European royalty, and audiences across the world. Yet, of all the stories she shared, none is more inspiring than her own. Running time for the film is 105 minutes.
This program is sponsored by the Florence Indian Mound Museum and is free to the public. The Museum is open Tuesday – Saturday, 10am-4pm, and Sunday from 1-4pm. Call 256-760-6427 for more information.
