BARTON - Essity is a leading global hygiene and health company with local operations in Barton. Essity has awarded a total of $11,000 in scholarships to eight Barton area students as part of Essity’s annual scholarship program for children of employees. Those recipients include:

Kaylee Eldridge, Muscle Shoals–$2,500 for the University of Alabama

Jeni Graves,  Rogersville–$1,000 for the University of Alabama at Birmingham

Caleb Huckaba, Tuscumbia–$1,000 for UNA

Angel Joy Napalit, Sheffield–$2,500 for NW-SCC

Marlie Riddell from Killen–$1,000 for Mississippi State

Jackson Smith,  Rogersville–$1,000 for Auburn University

Wesley Smith,  Rogersville–$1,000 for Auburn

Bradley Thigpen,  Florence–$1,000 for the University of Alabama at Birmingham

This year 51 students received a combined total of $75,500 in Essity scholarships for their full-time education at an accredited U.S. or Canadian university in 2020-21.  Since creating its annual scholarship program 13 years ago, the company has given more than $751,000 to high school seniors and college students.
