FLORENCE – The Salvation Army Auxiliary’s popular Empty Bowl luncheon will return to the area after a two-year hiatus because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event will mark its 17th year as it takes place Wednesday, April 13 to benefit the Salvation Army of the Shoals.

The luncheon this year at the Marriott Shoals Conference Center will be carry-out only with no sit-down dining.

Carry outs of bread, a customer’s choice of a 20-ounce container of soup, and bottled water will be included and ticket-holders will again have the choice between handmade ceramic bowls and crosses.

There will also be pre-orders available for groups of four or more. There will be no silent auction or thrift store fashion show this year.

Tickets are $20 and will go on sale in mid-February. They can be purchased at the Salvation Army office at 1601 Huntsville Road or from any auxiliary member.
