TUSCUMBIA – The 103rd Annual Shoals Area Labor Council Labor Day Celebration honors working men and women in our community with Labor Day related festivities in Spring Park, Tuscumbia on Monday, September 5.

The parade in downtown Tuscumbia begins at 10am featuring the Colbert Heights Marching Band.  Festivities in Spring Park to begin at 11am with the presentation of colors.  Marine League (retired veterans) will be in the parade and at a tent in the park.

The 4th Annual Car Show in from 8:30am-1pm.  Registration is at 8am.

The Shoals Area Labor Council will be honoring Local Law Enforcement, “In Memory of Many, In Honor of All” this year as its Grand Marshal in the parade, focusing on both the fallen and active duty.   Law enforcement played a great part in supporting the working men and women in our area.  

In addition, the Labor Council will be honoring the following individuals this year:

Ed Blasingame, IBEW Local 558, Labor Person of the Year

James “Bud” Blackstock, IBEW Local 558 Apprentice Coordinator (Retired), Hall of Fame Person of the Year

Carl Phillips, Boilermakers Local 455 Business Agent, Hall of Fame Posthumous

Ray Campbell, former Senator (retired), 2022 Friend of Labor Person of the Year

Sgt. Nick Risner, 2022 Friend of Labor Person of the Year Posthumous

Mrs. Lynn Gist, Labor Administrative Person of the Year.
