THE FLORENCE CHAPTER OF THE OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY, Inc. will have its Annual Achievement Week program on Sunday, November 10 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church on East Alabama Street in Florence. The time for the event is 4pm. The program will honor area high school students for their academic accomplishments. Participants will be eligible for one of several achievement scholarships including the James H. Floyd Memorial Scholarship. An award will also be presented to one of the area’s outstanding citizens. The speaker for the event is Barrington Dames. Dames is a member of Omega Psi Phi and is the immediate past president of the Xi Omicron chapter. Rev. Charlie Johnson, Jr. is the program chairman.
INDIGENOUS PEOPLE STORYTELLING AND SHARING DAY is Saturday, November 9 from 11am- 2pm at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library. Join in for a day of storytelling and demonstrations celebrating Native American Heritage Month. This event is free and open to all ages.
