PRESERVATION FLORENCE IS A YEAR-LONG SERIES about historic preservation in the city that has covered topics such as the National Register of Historic Places, physical restoration, African American and Native American preservation, and cemetery preservation. For the remainder of the year, the series will focus on Florence’s own historic districts. There will be a different presentation each month during which the history and architecture of Florence’s unique historic districts will be explored. Florence City Historian Billy Warren will present a free talk on Wood Avenue and Walnut Street. These are two of Florence’s most iconic streets in its historic district at 10:30am on Saturday, July 27 at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library. This event is the seventh in the series. Bring your own fishing tackle, bait, chairs,and snacks. No fishing license required. Please release any catfish that you catch.
