An Escorted Hike at Wheeler State Park

FLORENCE – The Florence-Lauderdale Public Library is sponsoring an educational nature program, hike, and scavenger hunt Saturday, July 16 at Joe Wheeler State Park.

Park Naturalist, Sam Woodroof, will lead the excursion at 10am. Participants will meet at the park for this “at your own pace” educational program. They will get up close and personal with multiple skulls, skins, tracks, scat, leaves, and even a box turtle and crested gecko.

There will be a 1-mile hike along the Champion Trail during which participants will be encouraged to complete a fun nature scavenger hunt. 

Tickets should only be reserved for children or teens. Accompanying parents or guardians do not need to reserve a space. Go to to reserve tickets.
