FLORENCE – America’s Thrift Stores will open its newest location on Thursday, June 18 in Florence at 990 Cox Creek Parkway. America’s Thrift was founded in 1984 and is the largest thrift store chain in the southeast. Florence represents the 20th location in five southeastern states.
“We plan to open an average of three new stores per year into the foreseeable future,” said CEO, Ken Sobaski who was in town last week. “We have had a store in Decatur for ten years and it is doing well. We’ve been looking for a good location here for a few years. This is a great market in which to expand.”
Store employees will put out around 12,000 new items every day. This is in support of the store’s tag line, Where it’s a New Store Every Day. There are currently about 55 employees in Florence and another 15-20 are expected to be hired.
The for-profit company donates millions to several charities each year including Make-A-Wish Alabama.
Store hours will be 9-9 Tuesday-Saturday, 12-7 on Sunday, and 8-10am on Monday for Seniors only - 10-9 on Monday for all others. More information is at AmericasThrift.com.
