THE DEADLINE FOR PURCHASING TICKETS to the Russellville and Franklin County grand finale Bicentennial Birthday Celebration is noon on Thursday, November 14. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased by contacting Chris Ozbirn at 256-332-8827 or at The Celebration is at 6pm on Thursday, November 21 at the Todd Centre in Russellville. Attendees are encouraged, but not required, to dress according to any period of history of their choosing. The menu will consist of smoked chicken, pinto beans, turnip greens, potato salad, corn bread, and fried pies. Music will be provided by the Athens Dulcimer Jam Group. We are expecting this to be a fun evening, and we would love for everyone to join in.

LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER MARY CARTON will present the program on “Images of History and Scenery along the Natchez Trace from Cherokee to Natchez” at the quarterly meeting of the Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation at 2pm on Sunday, November 17 at the Helen Keller Public Library, 517 N. Main St. in Tuscumbia. The public is invited. Carton is recognized for her photographic coverage of numerous area events and beautiful nature images.
