HERITAGE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY WILL HOST A BOOK SIGNING with Bill Bagents, author of “Always Near: Listening for Lessons from God,” on Thursday, May 16 beginning at 6:30pm in the Overton Memorial Library on the HCU campus at 3625 Helton Drive in Florence. Books may be purchased at http://www.hcu.edu/product-category/books/ or during the program. “Always Near” offers 120 devotional reflections that encourage a closer walk with God. This event is free and refreshments will be served.


THE SHOALS STORYTELLING FESTIVAL will have top storytellers from across the region flocking to the Shoals Theatre May 16-18. The festival is proud to showcase Donald Davis, the Dean of Storytelling; contagious character actress, Dolores Hydock; award-winning liar, Bil Lepp; and Appalachian bluegrass phenom, Josh Goforth. Special guests this year include the Gee’s Bend Quilters, Mary Ann and China Pettway; Sean of the South, Sean Dietrich, and the Shoals’ own Firekid, Dillon Hodges and Heidi Feek.
